     Springerele Stables
History:   The name Springerle comes from an old German dialect and means "little knight" or "jumping horse." Historians trace these cookies back to the Julfest, a midwinter celebration of pagan Germanic tribes.

Springerle (SPRING-uhr-lee) - These have been and still are traditional Christmas cookies in Bavaria and Austria for centuries. Springerle are white, anise-flavored cookies, made from a simple egg-flour-sugar dough. Usually rectangular or circular in shape, they have a picture or design stamped on the top. The images are imprinted with specially carved rolling pins or flat molds.or boards.

This is a cookie that my 93 year old grandma has made for us since we were children and now has passed it down to me.  At Christmas we make them for everyone at Springerle Stables.

Has been riding since she was a little girl. and was given her first horse FRAZIER at age 11. She has shown in Hunter, Jumper and Equitation classes. After high school she recived her Associates Degree in Studio Art then decided to attend the "Maryland Horseshoeing School" where she became a Certified BWFA Farrier.  When she returned home at the age of 20 she started "Bells Farrier Service" and while shoeing full time went back to school full-time received her Bachelor's Degree in Glass Blowing and Fine Arts. In 2009 decided to become a riding professional and go back to teaching riding lessons and training young horses. Kaytlin enjoys working with young horses and their riders. She also enjoys working with the older rider who is just starting out or those getting reaquainted with being back in the saddle. She now runs Springerele Stables and Bells Farrier Service and in her free time she sleeps!

Barbara C. Bell

Barbara got her daugther into the sport with a pair of boots and a riding lesson. Since then the two have been a mother-daugther duo at times actting more like sisters. Barb rode when she was a teen ,through college until she and Harvey started a family.  She got the itch to ride again after she got Kaytlin started. Since Kaytlin was a chid, she and her mother spent most of their free time at the barn or away at horseshows. Barb has competed in the 3" Adult Hunters but Barb now shows in the Level 1 Jumpers.  Barb's true love is in the hunt field. Her love for fox hunting started years ago when she first capped with the Limestone Creek Hunt.  She since received her colors in 2005 with The Limestone Creek Hunt. If you're in the hunt field and don't reconize her you know her beloved sidekick "ADO". She loves introducing pepole to the sport and is also on the Board of Stewards helping the hunt push forward. When Barb is not in the barn she is working a full time job for Countryway Insurance.

Harvey M. Bell
Harvey is the father not just of Kaytlin but the barn. He brings Oreos, Licoricehot drinks in the Winter and Cold ones in the Summer to the barn girls and the employees. If it was not for him allowing Barb to give Kaytlin those first lessons or the first horse there would not be a Springerle Stables. Harvey teased Kaytlin since she was little that she could only have one large, smelly male in her life at a time and he preferred it was a horse!  In 2000 after his wife broke her leg (Riding accident, what else!) he took her for a drive to get her out of the house and on that trip they found a peice of land. He then decided that the only way he would get to see his wife and daugther was to build them their own barn. After Harvey retired the idea grew and in 2004 he broke ground on his dream.  He is responsible for the design and building of the barn and in the beginning stages took care of all aspects of the farm. As the farm has now grown from 8 to 34 stalls he now oversees "Manure Management". When the sun is just right you can see him outside with his camera snaping shots of the horses being horses or playing in his tractor.
